Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro) narrates as the camera pans through his research - the family crest and images of all his greatest ancestors. He phones Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) to ask him a favour. "My genealogical research has allowed me to track the Byrnes family as far back as 1643. There's always been a patriarch to lead our family through good times and bad. So I ask you, Greg, if I go down, are you prepared to be the Godfocker?".
"It's an attitude, Greg. It's the way that you carry yourself that lets them know that the buck stops with you."
Greg tries to follow the advice: "Henry, you gonna have your lasagne?" His wife (Teri Polo) intervenes: "He said he was feeling kind of queasy, so..." But Greg won't listen: "Henry, I'm your father and I'm request you to eat your lasagne." Henry responds and chows down on a piece of the meal. "Thank you, son." Unfortunately, Henry vomits over Greg's face.
This Holiday Season...
Greg's mom, Rozalin Focker (Barbra Streisand) says she "can't wait to see those little Fockers...". But Dina and Jack are already on their way in the car, phoning Greg. "...Dina and I will be there in approximately 18 seconds." Greg and Jack share an awkward greeting, with a kiss on either side of the face. Godfather-style.
Greg brings a turkey out: "Gobble, gobble everybody! It's turkey time". He hands the knife to Jack but he returns it, insisting "you're the turkey carver now". Unfortunately, in the course of his new duty, Greg slices his finger, spraying blood over everyone, including his wife's white dress.
